26 Nov., MediaTek held a press conference and unveiled its latest suite of 5G system-on-chips, including the flagship Dimensity 1000 5G chipset, which has an integrated 5G modem and is designed for sub-6GHz 5G networks. It features four 2.6GHz Cortex-A77 CPU cores and four 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
The graphics department will be headed by a Mali-G77 GPU. The chipset houses the latest MediaTek APU 3.0 - its AI engine, which improves the performance of the previous generation twice.
The first quarter of 2020 will see the first smartphones with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G chipset. One of them will be the first Blackview 5G smartphone as we reported earlier.
The latest 5G solutions from MediaTek will include not only 7nm nodes ones but also 6nm and 5nm. MediaTek's solution based on the 6nm node will be commercially available next year.
The company will also expand its solution outside the mobile market. It has already been announced that MediaTek will cooperate with Intel to offer 5G solutions for PCs.
The conference guests included TSMC VP Lora Ho and other high-ranking executives which is definite active support for MediaTek on behalf of strong industry partners.
