Yonhap reports that Samsung will release a clamshell foldable smartphone before the announcement of the Galaxy S11 series in February 2020. The information comes from industry sources.
It is said that Samsung is in talks with the three major Korean carriers for an early release on home grounds.
The tech giant will hold its Unpacked event in the US in the middle of February and the clamshell model will be available for sale immediately after that.
At its SDC 2019 event Samsung only briefly teased the clamshell foldable smartphone.
It is expected to have a punch-hole front camera and three rear cameras.
It is also rumoured to have a 6.7-inch display and will become almost square when folded.
The name of the clamshell model is not decided upon yet.
A Galaxy Fold 2 is set for release in late 2020.
Samsung plans to sell 6 million units of foldable models next year.
